Lately, Comoys with the 3 piece C logo seem to be getting a lot of bid attention on Ebay, but this "Patina" model flew under the radar last week. I was not familiar with that line and can't find out much about it. I had it with me at the CORPS show today, but the folks I saw also didn't know about this line.
I'm guessing from the nomenclature (weak, but legible) and the stem logo, the pipe was made somewhere from the late 50's to late 60's?
The briar had a nice patina, so I just buffed and then waxed the bowl. The stem has a heavy coat of oxidation. I did my usual wet paper/micromesh sanding and then to the buffer. There was large tooth indention on the top that I needed to fill, using Super-Glue and some vulcanite dust. The pipe is about a Group 4 I'd say? The bowl is just over 1 & 1/2" deep and the pipe weighs 50 grams.
So far, it's smoking great and just starting to develop a cake. These Comoys stems just have a wonderful feel in the mouth.
Here's a few before & after shots.
