Have anyone heard about fake Comoy's?

Is it just me, or the stamping a bit sloppy?

That does look suspicious. The only Comoy pipe I would buy is the older with the 3 part in-lay "C" on the stem, after the transition that led to that trademark to disappear quality of the pipe droped.

The recognized SME on Comoy (Neill Archer Rowan) is a member here. So I'd defer to him, while echoing the suspicions here that this is NOT good-to-do.

Here are the pics of the grain and mouthpiece. Two different pipes, notice the position of the letter "C" on the mouthpiece. Seems like it's tilted in different directions... But perhaps I'm completely wrong and owners of Pebble Grain would chime in...

looks like I was wrong, the seller seems to be a reputable dealer. Mods, perhaps you could delete this thread

Maybe the pictures don't do it justice or something, but nothing about that looks "right" to me. I have never owned a Comoy's so take it FWIW, but it looks like a knock-off of a high-quality pipe to me.

The second pipe looks more like a vintage Camoys pipe, the inlayed C I mention earlier, Im no expert but I would pass on the first pipe, to many questions

The first pipe looks like some examples after the Cadogan Investments transition, this is when quality began to fail IMHO

There are so many handsome blast pipes on the market in the price range, I think I'd look at different brands, whether this one, or these, are knock-offs or just a bad day at the factory. The box looks like English as a second language work. If you already own the pipe, and it smokes well enough, you might just accept it as a basket pipe that works for you. I've heard a grumble or two about the current crop of Comoys. I've looked at them seriously but followed my own advice and gone with brands that are more stable in their new pipe versions. Estate Comoys from reputable retailers are fine as always; new ones maybe not so much.

The story on those Comoy pipes The Pipe Restorer has is that they were originally part of an abandoned storage locker, and there were tons of them. The original buyer (bidder, like Storage Wars) was peddling them on EBay for a few months, until Pipe Restorer bought out the remaining stock. That's the story as I understand it.
I was under the impression that many on the boards had purchased them, and found them to be a good deal.
I've seen Pipe Restorer offer them on sale for I believe $30 each.
