Whenever I take a sip of any cold beverage whilst smoking, it burns my mouth like crazy! But a room-temperature drink does not do this, and I've never had any issues with tongue bite in general.

Is this normal? I see posts of people all the time enjoying iced tea, beers, etc. with their pipe, so I feel like I may be in the minority here.

Is it just the thermal difference of going from hot smoke to cold drink?

Russ Ouellette once3 posted about drinking a glass of cold milk after smoking a bunch of VaPers. It was hilarious. I don't/can't drink milk anymore, but even the passing thought of milk brings back Russ's story.

I don't mind the eye watering chemical burn every now and then. It's not terrible, and the endorphins kick in afterwards like you've just eaten a pepper... or survived a car bomb, ha ha.

If I'm puffing a little too hard, then sometimes a carbonated beverage will enhance the tongue burn. However, I think I've mostly cured myself of that bad habit of smoking too hot. I think for me that tendency was a nicotine craving thing, but since its been many years by now since I've smoked a cigarette, I've gotten past it.

Actually, I am smoking a lot of VaPers (including Russ' own delicious Viprati). Wonder if it's the hotness from the sweet Virginia combined with the Perique spice that may be affecting my tongue?

I'm starting to think I may also be smoking a bit too hot, honestly. I don't get bite during the smoke, but the affect of beverages lead me to think I might be irritating my tongue without realizing it.
