Greetings Fellow Pipe Puffers!

Like many of us here, in addition to Pipe Puffing, I like to collect.

I just saw an interesting pipe with a Coconut bowl.

Does anyone know if Coconut shells are safe to use when Smoking Tobacco long term?

I don't think so. For the pipe. I think you'd be fine. The coconut shell seems a lot more prone to burning then briar. People make charcoal from coconut shells. I assume it would impart some flavor too that might not be too pleasant.

This is a more comprehensive list:

Coconut's still not there. Funny that cherry is listed and a number of makers manufacture pipes out of cherrywood.

Of course, what these sites are concerned about is working with the wood and having contact, dermal or respiratory, with it or its dust/fines, and not about sticking a finished product in your mouth and/or inhaling the smoke from burning tobacco in it.

There's a member from Vietnam (@bienden) who I think once made a pipe out of coconut wood. Can't find the thread, though, so don't quote me.
It appears he's no longer a member, but....

Coconut wood, have you ever known it before?
This is a popular wood in my country. I tried several pipes, this is a pipe I just made.
