Ok, I don’t like inhaling tobacco smoke as I quit cigarettes 6 years ago. As such, I always hold my pipe between sips. The question I have is how do you constant clenchers smoke without inhaling the smoke while breathing? I’d like to be able to stroll or just sit while keeping a pipe clenched.

I usually clenched and breath as usual while browsing the internet or reading some books. I think that while we're breathing through our nose and making something like 'vacuum' space in our mouth, the smoke itself will not be inhaled. Just my 2 cents though.

I can’t clench for more than about a minute. Moving around while clenching is even more problematic. I don’t think it fits with my personality type.

I clench constantly. Every once in a while I'll relax my throat in a way that lets some of the smoke go down a tiny bit, not to my lugs but just so I can feel it in my throat. I do smoke cigarettes occasionally, and the sensation of a bit of pipe smoke going down the throat is nothing like inhaling a drag on a cigarette. I could open my throat completely while clenching and inhale it down to my lungs, but that tends to not be so pleasant. Just gotta learn to control your throat muscles.

Are you smoking? Are you breathing? Then you are inhaling some smoke. Not like heaving it down into your lungs after taking a deep drag on a nail, but down your trachea it goes. If you retrohale (sucking the smoke into your nasal passages) you get a little more, and expose nasal mucus tissue to higher doses. Moderation is the nearest you will come to avoiding this and still smoking a pipe. None of it is risk free.

I block the air hole with my tongue, then move it out of the way every so often to take a puff. Sometimes I tend to smoke a little too fast when I'm clenching, and this slows me down.
I don't really enjoy a pipe as much if I clench for more than a few minutes.

I'd like to clench way more what I'm doing right now,but unfortunately, I would not like to get too much bite marks on my stems so if I'm going to clench(for instance while driving)beforehand I'm to wrap the stem bite zone round with vinyl tape or something similar product,

I use Softy pipe bits, but after my current round of them wears out, I'm going to look for an alternative. They're really awful little things, constantly leaving little bits of rubber in my mouth, falling apart, slipping, and one more thing to pull off and clean after every smoke or they get real nasty. Also still somehow got chatter on my stems with them on.

I clench a lot, though that word leaves something to be desired, as you don't bite down with teeth, but gently hold it in place. Few stems have bite marks, and some of those came with the pipe.

Clenching is not for everybody IMO. If you are the nervous type, you will more thank likely destroy your stems, and most importantly your teeth. I'm with jpmcwjr on this one, try not to bite into the stem, just hold it in place ... bent pipes are more suitable if you are not used to it.
