Do you clean your email? This morning I deleted 432 old Facebook emails some going back as far as 1999. I never even played Facebook so I am surprised to find these emails.

I chip away at the recent ones, deleting twenty or thirty a day, mostly spam that doesn't get to the spam file. I need to unsubscribe a lot. But I have about 200 pieces of ancient email that I need to cull. It is just so boring. And then there are those horrible situations where I save things I know I'll never read or use again, on some neurotic suspicion that I will. So much junk accumulates in life. Most of the things that come to hand need to be promptly recycled, discarded, and otherwise removed from our custody.

Ha ha. I am the same way, such as notifications from 5 years ago about a cellular plan being refilled or whatever that I somehow think I need to save. At least their is less junk mail in the mail, but that is somehow easier to not accumulate as it goes right in the recycling bin even before I enter the house. So much of life seems to be wasted dealing with refuse, why not waste some more time talking about it?

I go through my email every morning with my first cup of tea. I probably have about ten emails every morning. Then I read and delete throughout the day.

Keep separate e-mail for different purposes, I have about 10 active addresses, don't bother cleaning any that were made for high risk activities (e.g. social media).

Well, I didn't want to say this earlier but when I was cleaning my emails this morning, I found one drawer that was tucked away, and I found some really filthy emails in there. I was rather shocked.

i used to keep one year, with auto-purge set. I had about 3,000 in PipesMagazine notifications, as I watch all posts.
Now, Outlook.com won't let me keep that amount, so there's 1,100 in Deleted folder.

Here's something frightening: At work, in my paid Outlook account, I do have it set to auto-purge at 12 months. I checked the other day and I have a tad over 168,000 emails in 12 months. When I complain about that, I checked my Sent file - it has 48,000 emails. No wonder I never get anything meaningful done.
