I have been unable to find much about a pipe I picked up recently. It is a Clairmont Emerald. I seem to gravitate to weird pipes and this is one I have never seen before. Any information is appreciated!

Many Clairmont pipes were made by Tommaso Spanu when he was starting out. You can check his pipe making history on Pipeda under Spanu. Very nice pipes of medium to high grade. He made pipes with Olive wood quite a bit too. Check one of the sponsors on the right column on this page called Al Pascia. He has a nice selection of Spanu pipes.

Nice pipe!

Here's a page with some info:

The pipes have the green bands like yours. I have a Spanu pipe that is stamped both Spanu and Clairmont. It has a green dot on the stem. Based on the info in the pipepedia Spanu page I am guessing it's from the 1970's.

Kane, thanks for the link! I emailed Clairmont to get more information. I haven't smoked it yet as it was in need of a serious cleaning. Hoping it smokes well as I would like to add it to my rotation.

I have yet to smoke my Spanu Clairmont. It is in new unsmoked condition. From everything I have read and heard about Spanu and Clairmont, they are very particular about the briar that they use, very old world craftsman approach. Good luck with your Claremont. Very nice looking pipe.
