I bought two Peterson churchwardens this year at about $100 a piece. They are much smaller than I anticipated. Shanks are pencil thin. Also both of them gurgle more than any of my other pipes. Not bad pipes just not recommended by me.

I'm kind of put off by the new Petersons. I have an Old bent apple fishtail I inherited from my dad he bought in the 70's that is a great pipe. But the two I have bought a bulldog 2023 and Dracula 2024 that leave a lot to be desired, maybe just me I don't know?

So I have two suggestions, and I'm hoping they are viable options for you.

First is if you have a decent B&M in your sphere. I got this at the Tacoma Tinderbox back when. It was a no name basket pipe for $45 or so.

Next was a pipe that I loved the shape of and paid like $15 for because it has a huge fill and it had a hole in the short stem... so I sent it off and had a warden stem made for it. All in less than $50.

Fill. But i don't care. Smokes great.

Hope you can do something like this. It really makes the pipe yours.

I have two Stanwell HCA Andersons. The value of the pipes both esthetically as well as value is amazing. My older one is a true Stanwell before they relocated. The quality is notable. Regardless, I appreciate that I can use them with dual usage - there are times when I really don't want the long stem and the shorter stem is just perfect for being a bit more mobile with the pipe - It is like having two pipes for the price of one. I am sure no matter what you order, you will find just what you are looking for.
