Chuck Mangione Dead at 84

The jazz musician, composer and band leader who'd released more than 30 albums passed away in his sleep. Probably most well known for his hit "Feels So Good".

A college buddy introduced me to Mangione's music my freshman year in college, and I've been a fan of his since then. RIP.

I think my generation discovered Chuck from the show King Of The Hill. In fact we thought he was made up for that show. And he was great in that show by the way.

I actually met him when he played at my highschool in CT. Don't recall the year, maybe 79, 80. He signed /autographed the back of a blue paper test book for me. Not sure if I can find it anymore. What happy / nice music, and he seemed a nice man. 84 does not sound as old to me now as it did back then. RIP.

Malcom-Jamal Warner from the Cosby Show died on Sunday, so Chuck could be considered #4....or #5 if you are a big fan of the Dutch band Golden Earring who lost their guitar player/vocalist George Kooymans on Tuesday. It's been a rough week!

We played his music in stage band 45 years ago. Loved his music. My 14 year old son now is really getting it, and whistles Feels So Good while he's walking around the house. He even started plinking it out on the piano. Love that kid!
