Anybody ever order/got pipes from this guy? He's a pipemaker and has got some pipes made from algerian briar I'm interested in.

Wow, I was surprised to open the website to find they are in Waynesboro PA, 25 minutes from where I live in MD. A couple of red flags:

- In the pipes section, the disclaimer "pipe shown not the actual pipe"

- it all has a very generic feel: solidy built. wood. Durable. Will outlast other pipes. (those are just plain weird descriptions for what they call an "Algerian Briar" pipe...)

- Terrible pipe pictures
I don't recall seeing a shop in Waynesboro, but the site says they've been in business since 1980. A buddy lives there, I'll ask him.
It's worth a trip to see for myself. They list hours of operations, so there has to be a B&M shop.
Stay tuned.

Might just be me, but the pipes in the pictures bear a striking resemblance to Edwards shapes, which are also Algerian Briar, I might add. IMHO, of course. Prices are the same as the Edwards shops as well.

Yes they do resemble standard Edwards catalog shapes. Im gonna call the shop later today and investigate further.

I always get nervous when I hear about "exclusive Algerian briar from 1940".

Ive sent an email asking some specific questions. I'll wait a couple of days before calling to see if they answer my email.
On a side note. It is possible the pipes are indeed Edward's as they are still sitting on a fair amount of old algerian briar I believe.

Beware the Chinese made lookalike imports - same wording exactly of some pipes I've seen on fleaBay!

Yeah the algerian briars aren't what they are cracked up to be. Crap. And if they are just like Edwards they are overpriced for the quality. I still have one and I can't get a standard pipe cleaner in the stem.

Ive never had an issue getting pipe cleaners thru any of my Edward's pipes. Then again I run a pipe cleaner thru all pipes I may consider purchasing to avoid disappointment.

I stopped by yesterday, just hadn't driven up that way. From the store front, it looked promising. Inside, it is pretty trashy. Some cigars and cigar accessories. Roll-your-own cigs & supplies. The pipes for sale are very cheap. They might smoke well, but the stems looked and felt plasticky to me. I'd pass. About 10 poorly attended jars of tobacco, with bags of blending mix laying on the floor. One bag was Stokkbye "Luxury Blend" which actually didn't smell that bad. That was his only non-aromatic. He doesn't sell tins, "no market for that here", despite Boswells, 10 miles up the road doing a booming business. Unlike JM Boswell, this guy is no tobacconist. Not a very appealing place or proprietor, disappointing.
