I was lucky enough to see a cool pipe go for pretty cheap on the 'bay a bit ago and snagged it. It was stamped "C. Morgan 08" and I wondered if it was one of Chris' pipes. I emailed him and he said it was. We emailed a bit more back and forth and I found out it was an early commission for a Bing-type pipe that the customer had never smoked and he even told me it was one of only 2 that he has ever made with a silver band. He was full of info and found it funny what I ended up paying for it.
On the downside I am almost afraid to smoke it. It's a briar artisan pipe...what if something goes wrong with this noob? The walls are thinner than I would like but I do have a couple thin-walled pipes that smoke fine. I guess it's just that aproach-avoidance thing that I'll get over soon enough.
Enough blah-blah. Here's a pic.

...and one with a Brebbia Iceberg for size comparison...

Sorry numbersix, I should have told you about it but I didn't even think.

More sword cane pipes, woohoo! Sit down and stay still when you smoke that. If you turn your head your liable to knock it into a wall.
With that narrow bowl I bet you could get some nice flakes simmering. Congrats that looks like a nice pipe!

You b8stard! hehe - just kidding captainsousie. Big congrats to you on that Bing. TBH, I've really got to watch my spending. But I also want to say again that I appreciate you sending me the notice about this Astley:

I actually went straight to esnipe and put in a bid (then thought better of it and cancelled). Didn't matter anyway since it went for much higher than I could afford.
Besides, thanks to Foggy, I now am the proud owner of a coveted Dunhill Bing - which is for me, the Holy Grail of Bing's. I kinda hate to admit this, but I have caught myself pausing past my pipe rack just to admire it!

It is a Beauty Thomm. You deserved it. Bruce and you are good people.
Thanks Bradley - I feel the same about you and Foggy too. A lot of fine people on this forum in fact.
