So I stopped by the Chicago swap this morning, I am in the north suburbs.
Picked up this Fribourg and Treyer Stack

Picked up this Briar Bird Devil Anse

I also met Condorlover (very charming) and had a bowl of the STP War Horse ready rub. Very nice, and good job. To me it was a very old timey burley reminiscent of Peretti's Cuban Mixture, but a bit sweeter with no bite. I will be stocking up. He also allowed me to look at the plug prototype, and I am impressed. I believe it had a slightly floral scent but with all that smoke in the tent it was difficult to tell.

I was able to pick up a pipe from Michail Kyriazanos at the Swap today. Hung out in the tent from about 2 to 4, ran down to St. Charles for a margarita and some Mexican food at El Puente, walked the dog in the park across the river, ran down to Geneva to some chocolate store for the wife to get some desserts, and then ran back to the tent for a couple bowls before heading to the room. Laying here watching the NFL draft, getting ready for bed and tomorrow's show. I was able to talk a little with Scott Thile (nice guy), Michail introduced me to Chris Asteriou (nice guy), recognized a few other makers, and conversed with a few others who I do not know. Everyone seemed in good spirits. It was a good day, and I look forward to tomorrow.

My day was a bit less filled, having arrived late afternoon. Ran into Premal early on and picked up a gorgeous Ryan Alden author blast that I had commissioned a while back. Then in one of the suites after dinner, picked up a large smooth billiard by Bertram.

Well, they seem to be quite official, quite legit. The swapping is done with dollars, though. Signs, notices, are in the lobby of the Tower.

Interesting. I might need to stay there next year instead of just driving in and leaving.

@mso489 thank you, I have had a smoke in it and am very pleased. The shank is less than pencil thin but it has a nice wide draw. It is like a pipe I would admire on ebay but would never win. I'm quite glad I picked it up.
@zack24, no worries I was in and out quick. Catch you next time.
@Cosmic, Condorlover seemed very protective of his plug prototype. Has anyone at the show had a chance to smoke a bowl of it or is it too super secret? By the way I ordered several tins of the ready rubbed today online.

Nice finds, and 2 pipes that should suit you very well! That F&T stack especially looks like your style.

I've got to agree with Mothernature, Scott Thile and Chris Asteriou aren't just 2 nice guys, but two of the nicest you'll ever meet.

Definitely hang out around the resort more! Tons of stuff going on 24/7 from Tuesday night on.

Ryan is most definitely missed at this show. Everyone I showed his great blasted author to said so. A beauty, for sure, Ryan, and thanks again.
Got a couple of items at the fund raising auction, a Butz-Choquin Hungarian, and a nicely carved meer which was donated by Iwan Ries. (My first stop when I get into The Windy City.)
