Before my grandmother died she gave me a few things that belonged to my long passed grandfather. Among them was this very interesting pipe. I just recently started smoking pipe and just today recalled that I had this. After a bit of cleaning it smoked quite a treat! Anyways I was wondering if anyone had seen one of these before and had any information about maybe where it came from.
P.S. This pipe is quite large. Bigger than my hand at the largest point.
Thanks

Robert

Thanks for sharing. Like Lawrence; "I have seen similar pipes, but they weren't intended for tobacco" as well. Nice family memento. :puffpipe:

It seems to be burled walnut or something of the like. Maybe ironwood not too sure. I tried many years ago to smoke "other than tobacco" out of it however, it was quite hot and unpleasant. I'm not really interested in selling it or anything I just was puffing on it and thinking of my grandpa who died many years before I was born. It actually smokes much cooler than the cheapo briar I bought the other day. It's a bit more of a chore though.
