Change is in the air...

Now I know I am new here, but this is not my first forum that I have belonged to, and I always felt the best way to get to know the people of the forum was to just jump right in with both feat and put it all out there, and get to know everyone.
So, with that being said, I have been a New Jersey native for the past almost 40 years. But the time has come for me to move out of this great state, its just to expensive to raise my family here. 3 kids, dog, and one income not the easiest to pull off. So its off to Florida I go, moving in June once the kids get out of school. My fiance soon to be wife is a stay at home mom. with a 13yo girl, 11yo boy, and almost 2yo boy, shes got her hands full and probably works more in one day than I do in a week. LOL.
I am moving to Lakeland FL, and was wondering if anyone here is from FL and do they have any tips, pointers hot spots, spots to stay away from and most importantly the locations of a good B&M!

I live in Toms River now. I was raised in Jersey City, moved to Colonia when I was 14 and since then I have lived in:

Wall

Brick

Belmar

Forked River

Smithville

Back to Colonia

Toms River.

LOL no need to be sorry, I know what you mean. I want a better life for my kids. I have a 21yo and he is out and on his own, working going to school, playing in a band,living with his GF, just living the dream. I give him 3 months before he calls me and says he wants to come to FL LOL.

And yes bikinis are always a good thing!

I don't know about Florida but I grew up in Clifton,NJ and also lived on Lisa Court in Colonia for 10 years before moving to Bethlehem,Pa 20 years ago. Good luck with the move.

Lakeland is a "relatively" quiet place between Tampa and Orlando, just off the Interstate. It is home of the EAA "Sun n' Fun" fly-in every Spring, the second biggest Airshow on Earth next to Oshkosh (20 miles South of me) here in Wisconsin. Welcome aboard. mirror sunglasses (so the wife cant see you checking out the chicks)

bug dope (mosquitos are like bats)

flip flops/ sandles

sunscreen

lots of water

an air conditioner for the summer months

a fan

a tall glass of sweet tea

lear to use the word coke for all soda pops

get used to fatty meals and lazy afternoons

and the high tobacco taxes

and last sunscreen(did I mention that yet?)

Yes NJ has great pizza, no where else has pizza like us.

I am so looking forward to the move. The house I am buying is on a lake, I walk out my front door and there it is. Only 2 deeded boat slips in the community and I have 1 of them. Looking forward to just sitting on the boat, sipping some Gin and smoking a nice bowl of something tasty.
As far as work, yes I work, I am a glass cutter/installer and no matter what the economy is like, people need there windows, doors and mirrors replaced.
Sunscreen is a must, I am Irish, I burn if I stand next to a table lamp for to long. As far as the mirrored sunglasses, my girl is cool, she will point out women for me to check out. 8)

and yeah I've been to New Jersey ... once you're done looking at the historic stuff ... there's not much else to do but freeze your ass off in winter.
