Chacom made the pipes for last years Slow Smoking Competition in Chicago. It is now one of my favorite pipes. VERY NICE!

I have that same pipe -- it's not a bad pipe. They are good, French-made briars. Don't expect anything amazing, but at that price point, you shouldn't. Mine smokes well, drilled as it should be, and I fanned out the airway at the bit end once I got home. I think they are a good value for the money.

I am a big fan of French pipes, including Chacoms. They are undervalued by the market here, with Italians, Danish, English, Irish and even Japanese brands getting the glory. For several years I could only find Chacoms in odd places, or on EBay (is EBay an odd place>), but lately I'm seeing some in B&Ms. I do recommend them.
Based on their making the contest pipe at Chicago, it looks like Chacom is gearing up a bigger market presence in the US. Now that's a good thang for our hobby.

These are my two, from the "Cap Blanc" series (note that the cap is actually jaune); a lumberman and a Canadian. I'd put them on par with Peterson for the lower grades, albeit with slightly better engineering. I've yet to obtain a higher grade, but it's definitely on my PAD list as these are both wonderful smokers, every time.
