Hey guys, I'm pretty new to pipe smoking only been at it a few weeks or so. I currently have a Peterson Standard System and have 2 Missouri Meerschaum corncobs which should be arriving in the mail soon. This is plenty for a beginner but these pipes have really caught my eye, particularly the "Black & White" types which consist of a regular briar lined with meerschaum. Just wondering if anyone has much experience with these types of pipe or any pipe which has a meerschaum lined bowl. :) I put a link to an example below.

My uncle has one I bleieve his exact words were, "I wished it smoked as pretty as it looked." It was a very cool looking pipe and he likes things that look sort of out there, but it doesn't smoke as well as some of his others, but the thing to remember would be that he still smokes it and hasn't tried to dump it off on somebody so it can't be too bad. So just think if it's worth $100 to you. If so get it and welcome to the hobby.

Hmm sound pretty good, might splash out for one in a couple months after breaking in the Peterson and the cobs a little.

I have a lovely old Chacom, there are quite good quality pipes. As for meerschaum lined, I'm afraid I can't help you there!

I have a Chacom. It's a bent apple, in a very large size. The pipe smokes as well as any, and is a very good looking pipe IMHO. It's not meer lined, though I do have a couple of others that are. Again IMHO they also smoke as well as my block meers do.

I love Chacom pipes. I have three now and a am on the lookout for more. All three of mine are from their high end. I am not interested in the general production pipes. Not to say they aren't good pipes. However, I do not have a meer lined one nor have I seen one for sale in their newer production. They have a vast array that has been offered over their history and as seen with many older brands their older pipes are generally better quality. Just my opinion.

Whoa! that meer-lined Chacom is pricey! I own a couple of old Chacoms, a very fine old brand (a merger of the Chapuis and Comoy pipe-making families), but not a meer-lined. The ones I own are very good smokers, and prized possessions as well, so don't hesitate to acquire a Chacom if you see one at an attractive price. Smokingpipes.com has a good selection.

And here's a little Chapuis-Comoy history: http://pipephil.eu/logos/en/infos/chapuiscomoy-en.html
Sorry; meant to include that in my previous post.
