Chacom Montmarte 17 - a new addition to my collection

I was trying to find a topic for french pipes but I haven't seen any, so I thought I'd make this short thread about my brand new Chacom.
I really fell in love with the Chacom - Montmarte series so I had luck with this one, because this was the only and last Montmarte that I could find at a reliable distributor in my country. Of course I could've ordered one directly from Chacom, but that would've been far more complicated and expensive.

A stylish bent pipe with a smooth brown finish, a chrome band and an amber-hued acrylic stem. Really a gem, if you ask me, it's a great briar, really comfortable to hold and to smoke freehand and it's just pretty. With the gift-box I also got a certificate of authenticity which looks elegant and nice. Check it out below and share your french pipes, too!

I looked at that series for a long time. The yellow stem against the smooth wood is very nice.

I looked at that series for a long time. The yellow stem against the smooth wood is very nice.

They're really beautiful. I think it can be a unique addition to any collection. I'll use mine with mainly MacBaren Three Nuns.

Very nice pipe. Sad thing is Im in France but I just can’t warm up to French pipes. I seem to have an Italian fetish lately. Enjoy!

As I routinely say, French pipes are usually beyond their price point in quality. Factory made pipes are a staple industry in France, and the industry is longstanding, competitive and also has a European feel for design and dash, even though many pipes are traditional in concept.

You just have to read the specs if you like a larger chamber since they tend toward smaller ones.

Many of the traditional shapes and styles we think of as British were originated in France, and France was the country that established briar as a primary material in pipe making. I have Chacom, Ewa, Ropp, and Genod pipes, all classy smokers.

While I like Italian pipes I have noticed that almost all makers there charge a serious premium for any smooth pipe. I look a them and just say Daaaamn!

Also I tend to like 9mm fliter pipes. They arent found much in Italy and in limited supply in France. I do a lot of looking on ebay Germany.

Guess I should spend a little more time looking at French pipes. I do have an old pretty BC that is a good smoker.

I like 9mm filter pipes, too. This one for example, and the Montmarte series in general, is made without a filter but as far as I know it can be easily transformed into a filter one. So if you have a reliable specialist on making/repairing pipes around, it's worth a try to ask them if they can modify your non-filter pipe

Is this shape 41? I too am fond of this shape but the faux spigot has kept me from buying one.

Yes, Id prefer that they had done something else. Im a bit hung up on that as well. Use something decent and raise the price 3 bucks!

If it helps any, I have that exact same pipe, but in a lighter shade of briar and stem, and I can say it is a nice little smoker. Good if you're looking for a travel pipe with a little class to it. Chacom pipes are usually pretty nice smokers that punch above their weight.
