Chacom billiard pipe?

I am a very new pipe smoker. My wife got me a nice little basket pipe labeled "Czech" for my birthday and I won a Goeddewaagen on Ebay pretty cheaply recently. I won a Chacom billiard pipe the other day as well. It was about $39 total with shipping. Just wondering if that's a good pipe/deal for the Chacom. Thanks for having me on this site. Welcome to the forums! Yes you got a good deal! If you could upload a pic of it, that would cool! I took this from smoking pipes.com :Chacom is associated with one of the oldest pipe companies. In 1825, in the small village of Avignon, near the birthplace of pipes, St. Claude, France, the Comoy family began making pipes from boxwood for Napoleon's army. In 1879, Henri Comoy and his cousin Chapuis started working together to make briar pipes in France to be sent to London (to where Comoy ultimately moved). Chapuis Comoy became one of the most famous companies in 1922. Combining their names, Chacom officially became a brand in 1928. Over the next few decades, the company continued to grow, producing pipes that were distributed to be sold in France, Belgium, Scandinavia, Germany, the United States, Japan, and others.

I hate to be a nitpicker and I also hate to hijack this thread. That being said I also hate to see historical inaccuracies.
@gunnar I see you took that discription from SPC so this is not directed towards you. Napoleon's final defeat was in 1815 at the battle of Waterloo, after that he was forced into exile and never had an army again, in fact he died in 1821. So they certainly were not making pipes for his army in 1825. There is either a misprint in the date, or an attempt to fabricate the company's origin.
Not intended as a slight to either chacom or comoy as they are both quality pipes.
To the OP: without pics it is hard to say, but if you are happy and it helps you to enjoy this wonderful hobby then without a doubt you got a great deal!

I probably should have read through what I was posting...might have caught that...thanks for catching that for me.

At OP most of those companies pipes go from $60-150ish so yes I'd say you saved at least $20 which is great. Also I have heard that they smoke well and are on par with lower grade petersons. (which are still great pipes)

Just got my pipe in the mail today. Super nice! Now to do some minor cleaning and let it dry a bit. Probably smoke it tomorrow for my birthday.
