Hi gentlemen,

Not sure if this topic has been discussed before so pardon me for starting a new one.
I have to leave the country for 6 months for my research and wondering how to cellar my stash properly.
What I would like to know is if you follow a special technique regarding storing pipe tobacco. Perhaps wrapping the tins / keeping them in vacuum bags or avoiding them from the sun to keep your tobacco in a good condition?
I live in New Zealand by the way, it is actually quite humid and wet down here regardless of the seasons.

It would be nice to get your perspectives. I appreciate it.

When you think of what the tins go through as they are packaged and shipped, a few more months in a sealed tin probably won't hurt the leaf.

I would suggest mason jars for everything that is open (which you probably do anyway) and just leave the tins.

Maybe run a little dehumidifier if you are really concerned.

Where are you headed for 6 months?

I use a combination of mylar bags and airtight storage containers.

If you were in the U.S. I'd say send your stash to me. My baccy sitting skills are unrivaled though the tax taken out of your cellar would be rather high.
