Thanks! Looking forward to reading it. I emailed the company recently, but haven't heard back yet.Maybe not the conclusive answer, but a nice and knowledgeable read. Did you contact Castello ?
Thanks!!The "HAND MADE" stamp was used in 1969. 1969 was the conversion year when Castello went from machine made to hand made pipes, plus the year Franco Coppo joined the firm.

Do you mean that the shank markings were used only in 69 or from 69 onward?I just reviewed this and after the images ... the Hand Made is stamped on the stem, not the shank. Thus please forget about me suggesting it was made in 1969. The Hand Made on the shank was used in 1969. Even current era Castello's have Hand Made on the stem.
Maybe contact Castello via Castello.net

Sorry, I just saw your question. The HAND MADE stamp on the shank was only used in 1969.Do you mean that the shank markings were used only in 69 or from 69 onward?
This Canadian (32, but not marked as such) was purchased last year from Pipes2smoke. But who knows how long Maxim had it in stock...?? Good Question. What else is stamped on the pipe? I don’t collect or pay much attention to the long shank pipes, for all I know the are still stamping them with the reg number. I’ll have to poke around tomorrow
No, I'm sorry, I don't think I've ever seen a stamp with that handwriting. Is any of you familair with this particular "Castello " stamp ?
Thank you, much appreciated. Most helpful and new to me .Here is a series of images of Castello pipe markings, but none of them are in italics.

Could be; I've seen examples with Pezzo Unico in oval but no Castello stamp in script.I think they save the Castello in script for unique and high end pipes like Pezzo Unico.
