Hi đź‘‹
I just scored this beauty and wanted to ask you all if maybe you had some insight on it in any way besides the obvious markings. I’ve not seen a style akin to this before or with the briar? Stem insert. Any way just would like to start a conversation and see if I can learn anything about its age or maybe a story or model other than the stamp. Thanks in advance 🍻

I can’t make out all the markings. Is it stamped “Kino” anywhere? Either way, the four “K”s on an Old Antiquari indicate size, One “K” being a small pipe, 4 being a large pipe. The white bar indivates a modern pipe as the old ones had a “diamond” (crumpled tin) inserted in the stem. The Old Antiquari stamp tells you it was sandblasted. If it has a “Kino” stamp, it means the pipe is a later one made by Franco Coppo (nicknamed Kino) who has been running the shop since 1985. Castello began putting a number inside a “castle” stamp in 1987, their 40th anniversary. The number indicates how many years, post 1987, the pipe was made. This should help you determine the era, if not the exact year your pipe was made. The briar shank adornment is an option and increases the cost of the pipe. Castellos are fantastic pipes! Congratulations!

Good looking pipe! It’s a shape 65. The clues to how old it is are the US stamp that started around 1997 and the Carlo Scotti in the oval that changed to Kino in 2007. Enjoy!
