Sunny Cornwall, UK.
Some iffy looking stem fitments but overall a decent set for the collector. Already up to $1,000 with seven days to go!

Bufferblasted to hell and back. Rounded edges and scallops/ripples everywhere. A case study (see what I did there? ) in how to NOT restore pipes.
Most of the damage is unrecoverable.
What a waste.

I hope these end up with someone who doesn't have a critical eye and doesn't have many pipes, who will just smoke them with pleasure, and leave it at that. In a larger selection of pipes -- even mine -- these would be an expensive white elephant.

Bit of a scam, seller takes seven "restored" pipes from different years of manufacture, and puts them in a case. What's so special about that?

Nothing special at all.
I was so busy looking at their condition I didn't even notice the different years thing.
Yeah, that's purest bullshit, alright. No returns accepted, either.
Looks like "plausible deniability" is alive and well. (Easy to claim that's how the pipes were found, I'm no expert in such things, yadda, yadda...)

The husband is kaput and the wife is selling off the set. He clearly liked the smooths more than the sandblasts as the smooths show more wear and tear. Fit of stem to shank is funky on several of these, and as George noted, there is considerable round from the excessive use of that weapon of mass destruction, the buffer. Should be interesting to see what this one tops out at. Could get real entertaining if two or more brain donating trust fund babies snipe at the end.

It will probably go for double that, but if not right now it's $142 a pipe plus the case. Not bad at this price.

You are just jealous and you dont understand real art when you see it

This is a fine piece and I am sure that will go to a real connoisseur who will pay a decent and well deserved price for this beautiful set :)
