It makes going up to the mailbox exciting...even in the rain.

Still feeling my way amongst the leaves. I've been a cigar smoker since the early 90's, but the pipe is new. I tend toward the rich and smokey blends. Rich and smokey anything, Lapsong Suchong, Smoked Salmon, a good hickory fire in the woodstove and a pork loin roasting over apple wood...mmmmmm. I had a girlfriend once who was rich and smokey, too.
Aromatics are also apealing, but I just don't like the goopy, fake and cloying stuff. I have some My Own Blend Livegarden Vintage that I like a lot.
BTW, here's a plug for The Danish Pipe Store, where I got the Paul Olsen's. Very well built website, good prices and fast shipping to the US.
Now, if I can just shake this cold and get back to sipping....

Came in here thinking this had something to do with this year's burning Man. It doesn't :puffy:

I looked at this topic wondering if "John From" had a tobacco of choice. Oh well, I'm off to mix some kava....

Funny you should mention 111!

I also ordered a tin of that, but have not tried it yet. I appreciate the affirmation of my hunch, though...

Good to hear some recommendations for Paul Olsen tobacco. I live near the Paul Olsen shop in Copenhagen and I really enjoy browsing the shop while bothering the shop keeper with all kinds of questions. My latest purchases were MyOwnBlend no. 55 (a pure burley, very "earthy") and "Grøn Caledonian" (15% Latakia, some Cavendish, I forget the details. Very nice flavour, somewhat citrus-y while of course retaining that Latakia flavour). Curiously I don't seem to be able to find "Grøn Caledonian" for sale online anywhere. If any of you get the chance, I'd recommend dropping by the shop!
As the name suggests, they do individual blends on request. If I had more knowledge of tobacco types and flavours, I'd definitely give it a go, but I'll stick to sampling other people's creations for now.

Hello bjarketn,

I've visited the shop years ago, on one of my visits to DK. My wife's brother married a Dane, and they now reside in Nødebo. Unfortunately, I wasn't much of a pipe smoker back then! Question: Are the tinned My Own Blend varieties available in smaller quantities in the shop? By the gram or 10 gram, etc? I did buy their "5-in-1" variety, 5 small pouches...sort of a ballot for a new blend. That's going to be a lot of fun to work through.

woodsroad; Not in "sample size" quantities as far as I am aware. Some of the varieties come in smaller tins (25g i believe). They're very nice people, though, so perhaps they'd agree to sell some smaller quantities. I'll ask them on my next visit for sure :) .
