I'm relatively new to pipe smoking. I started in 09 but didn't really take it seriously (I used to smoke a bowl a week) until a couple months ago where it's become at least a bowl a day. (Good job, now I like it too much.. or am I addicted? Haha)
I can't seem to keep my Peterson Sunset Breeze lit with my smaller Lorenzetti travel pipe. I end up having to either a) Smoke every 5 seconds, making a 45 minute bowl into 15 minutes. Or b) Lit it every 30 seconds, which I imagine can't be good for the tobacco like that.
What should I do? Pack it better? I use a taper. Half the bowl, taper, 3/4 of the bowl, taper, full, taper. Leave a little bit off the top. Should I pack it harder? I'm at a loss. I love this tobacco and I feel it's more my own inexperience that's causing it to not smoke well.

Relighting doesn't harm the tobacco. But try packing a little more firmly, and see if that helps. :puffy:

+1
I'll add that you may need to dry the tobacco a bit more and then try getting a good light going at the beginning.
