Post pictures. The knowledge here is deep. Bring it on. We’re happy to help.I’m fairly new to pipe smoking so very uneducated. Ultimately I’m fascinated with older pipes and their history. But I have a great grandfather that’s since passed and left about 15 pipes no one knows anything about and I am curious to find out more about them like age, the company history defining logos or marks etc and also just pipe history in general.
Isn’t that truthSure, they generally don't complain as much as a human spouse...
You can mostly tell what it is from the symbol then? How’s you know about the ropp? Just how it looked? The Cherry wood is a Ropp. Then the white one is a Medico
The one with a clover is a Kaywoodie and the yellow circle is a Yello Bole
Go to pipedia with that info and enjoy the read
Yes and yes.You can mostly tell what it is from the symbol then? How’s you know about the ropp? Just how it looked?

@ashdigger is spot on with the Ropp. Very distinctive French pipes made of cherrywood with bark left on. I have not seen similar pipes made by any other maker. If the pipe is in good condition, there should be an oval tag with "Ropp" stuck onto the stem (mouthpiece). You can mostly tell what it is from the symbol then? How’s you know about the ropp? If the pipe has an English hallmarked silver band, it will be quite easy. You do have to identify which city the hallmarks are registered eg London, Birmingham, Chester. Then it is a matter of looking up the date letter on a silver hallmark date chart for that city.I’m fairly new to pipe smoking so very uneducated.
