I have a MM corn cob and the stem isn’t straight. The wood piece inside the bowl needs to be turned.

What do they use to glue the stem to the bowl ?

If you are talking about the shank (wood) then you can re-glue it with Elmers glue...or even super glue.

A slow firm twist usually does it but be warned that the odd one will not come out of the bowl and split, probably because the part of the shank resting on the bottom of the inner bowl is to well glued. What I've done to all my MM's is to drill out the bottom of the bowl, including the part of the shank that is glued too the bowl's interior bottom. Then the stem easilt twists out. I insert the right sized hardwood dowel, adjusting where the hardwood meets the airway, and gluing it with Elmers glue and let it dry. Then I saw off the dowel, reglue the stem to the bowl, and voila, a MM with a hardwood bowl bottom. It's a lot less trouble than it sounds like.

I tried heating one up with a lighter. While it worked, I burned the crap out of the side of the bowl. I'd suggest trying to turn and pull after smoking a nice warm bowl.

Use a hair dryer to heat the shank but be wary not to over heat it so it burns. Slow and steady bending slightly from left to right and up and down then rotate the shank, it should work, regards.

1. A heat gun on "Low" works great. Just be quick about it.
2. I've never seen an MM smoke badly from having a shank installed crooked, no matter how ungodly of an angle they cram it in at. I only re-clock them because knowing they're crooked inside bugs me.

I watched a video on youtube of Jason Dagner separating the shank from a cob and all he does is hold the bowl firmly in one hand and leverage the shank in one direction to break the bond of the original glue.

I tried it and it worked with no problem. No heat needed. Quick too.
