I recently purchased this estate pipe and it has me confused to say the least. It is stamped Carmignani and very much resembles other pipes made by the Italian brand, including the Cumberland stem. It also has a stamp of what appears to be the Danish pipe maker Jorgen Nielsen. If that isn't confusing enough, it is stamped with the number 2, but I am fairly certain neither Carmignani nor Jorgen Nielsen used a number grading system. Do I now own a Frankenstein of some sort or is there some information out there that I have not been able to locate about this beauty? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It appears that many carvers from all over produced pipes for them.

"Carmignai has always produced their own pipes in some different series from England hand made by Bill Taylor of Ashton pipe, by Comoy's, GBD, Everyman, and others and from Irish Peterson that produced for Carmignani all the centenary special series in 1992 ... and from some of the best italian artisans ..."

I assumed that was the case but thought it would be easier to research, especially being associated with the Nielsen name, Thanks for the info!
