I see the price has increased by fifty pounds since this thread started.
I'm with you on that! Cased pipes are truly elegant. I have several old Barlings that are cased and I'd like to have several others fitted with cases. But it seems that no one can do that in todays world. It's not that cases aren't available, it's that cases fitted to the specific pipe aren't available. Every inquiry I've made has been fruitless. The only possibility suggested has been to ship the pipe to Turkey, somewhere, to have a case made like are made for meers, and that's not going to happen. What I sometimes do with UK listings is wait 'til it doesn't sell and make an offer, after having asked loads of questions and seen more photos etc. I would have asked for a photo of the mouthpiece separated, the inside of the tobacco hole and so on........I adore cased pipes of that age especially Charatan and Barling.
Because they know nothing about photography or how metering works. But why do folks insist on placing a dark pipe on a white background with camera set to auto-exposure, and think the exposure will be all right?
I'd be really interested to see that!Someone recently posted a pipe case made in a 3D printer, that was pretty amazing, I think it was this forum?
