Very good deal, and a stand up guy.
Ive told this story before, but here it is again.
My very first ebay pipe purchase was a small, ugly, bald briar with a Delrin stem. It was a "buy it now" for $24 with free shipping.
The seller was from South Africa. The pipe made it here to NYS in 48 hours.
The guy sent a handmade pipe from SA for $24 total.
Out of interest I contacted the seller to find out how much it cost to ship. He told me it cost $15 USD. So he got $9 for his handmade pipe.
Here's the good part.
The guys name is Jean Du Toit.
This was the first pipe Jean ever sold.
Within a year, he was an up and coming pipe carver. Soon he was wildly popular making pipes under the Pietenpauw Pipes name.
By 2010 he couldn't keep pipes in stock. He made the Pipchat POY 2010. He is still making pipes, along with his son Peter. Many here probably have a Pietenpauw pipe.
Him and I stayed in contact, and ive bought pipes from him over the years.
Here is the lowly little $9 pipe.
Sorry for the hijack.
