Well, I love this one. To be honest, I expected to. I already have a rainy-day supply of their Blockade Runner. Although the tin aroma says rum, the taste of it is subtle. Where CDBR is a dark crumble kake, this one is a lighter color broken-flake. Surprisingly, despite the tin display being so different, the smoke is very similar. For another comparison, if you are already fond of MacB Navy Flake, you may like this, as well. Where I think the MBNF has honey-like nuances, CDA has the rum. I say to Va lovers, this is a must-try.

This was the first high quality pipe tobacco I ever tried, high quality meaning "non-drugstore" blend. I had no idea how to smoke it correctly, and as such, received the most horrid mouth scorch of my young life. I traded it off for some aromatics, and never thought about it again. Now that I know how to smoke VAs properly, I might have to dive into it again and give it another taste. Thanks for posting the review! I have also kind of been curious about MacBaren Navy Flake as well.
