Butz-Choquin Fregate Stem Issues

Hey all! I bought a new BC Fregate, love the pipe, but since the first time I used it, the black down the middle of the clear stem comes off every time I run a pipe cleaner through. Has anyone ever heard of this happening? Any ideas on what I should do? Is there a way to get a replacement stem if need be?

I would guess by using a pipe cleaner you are doing the correct thing by removing the tars stuck in the stem.

Well the black was there when I bought it, it’s not tar, it was the color of the inside of the stem by design. So it wasn’t supposed to come off or so I thought. I’m wondering if it’s supposed to come off on that particular pipe? Or if not, is that something that can be replaced by BC?
