There is a number of discussion here on how to keep bulk tobacco fresh -- I'm mostly interested in Sutliff moist aromatics.
How to retailers do it I wonder.

No B&M I know go beyond plastic storage bins for keeping loose tobacco around. Nothing airtight. This is why bulk tastes different from tinned tobacco.

The one blender I knew who kept and aged a stash of tobacco for blending kept his in 5 gallon plastic pails with lids, the kind you get at Lowes or Home Depot. Again, nothing airtight.

My local independent pipe shop stores the bulk tobacco in large plastic bags under the shelves in the humidor below the cigars, but has most of them for sale in the big "candy jars" with soft cork gaskets on the tobacco display shelves. I presume the blends can sit in the candy jars for some time. But most tobacco can sustain a lot of drying and remain good to optimal. I often remember than the crew on the old square rigger sailing ships, at sea for months or years at a time, kept their personal tobacco in their sea chests in cloth bags with drawstrings, with a little hydration from the sea air below decks.

a spray bottle of vape juice (pg, glycerin, and water) that they used to humidify the bulk jars

@canucklehead Do you know what ratios they used? Or can someone guess what it should be?

I heat up tobacco in order to release aroma. Such a spray might prove to be beneficial for this purpose.
