I regret to inform the community of the passing of renowned Danish Pipe Artisan,Peter Heeschen. Here is a copy / paste from Lee Erck.
Dear Lee,

we are writing you on behalf of Peter.

Peter passed away saturday the 28th. He had a sudden heart attack. Though doctors were at the place very fast, there was nothing to do. He died fast and was in no pain, in the arms of a good friend.
He had had a great day together with his family and spent the evening with a good friend, who is also a good friend to us.

As his children we are sure, that this was the best way for Peter to leave this world.
Together with his testament he had written us a letter, where he asked us to write to you, when he one day passed away. The letter also said, that he felt he had had a good life. Traveling the world and having friends all over the world was a big part of this.
Feel free to write us any time.
This photo is from 2010 at The Richmond Pipe Show.

Sad news indeed. I have two of his pipes and enjoy them often. I will be smoking one of his tonight in his honor.

Sad News, as I knew him from shows he was a man of good cheer. He'd always kid me that I got taller and he got shorter every year. RIP

The first (and only) time that I met and conversed with Mr. Heeschen was at a West Coast Pipe Show 4-5 years ago. His English was not very good (but hey, neither is mine), but we somehow hit it off. Great fellow who made heck of nice pipes!
