Some of you may know Dave Jacobsen, from PA. He was a infrequent forum participant and I just learned of his passing. I know he also spoke with Bradley in Louisiana.

I knew and met Dave thru my worked related travels in the Mid-Atlantic. I would stop by his place occasionally (right off I-81 in PA) and spend some time with him. Dave didn't drive, and I'd pick him up to attend the NYC show, or head down to the nearby Cigars International. When my work travel ended, we would speak by phone once a month or so. I spoke to him in early January, than in February his phone went to voice mail with an automated message. I tried again yesterday, and also reached out to Brad (the Old Cajun), who had not heard from him. I googled his name and town and unfortunately found his obituary notice. Dave had been battling some chronic illnesses over this winter and I guess they got the best of him. He was a generous spirit and we exchanged pipes and tobacco over the years (I first met him maybe 10 years ago). I'll miss our phone calls but appreciate the time we were able to spend together. Dave battled some internal demons, so I hope he rests peacefully.

I will miss him, he and I exchanged pipes and tobbaco. He called once a month and we exchanged views on the world, had demons as Al said, we were both vets and I made allowances for him, he was basically a good guy, last time I talked to him he was cooking for a vet organization and didn’t have a big pot to cook with, I sent him a 40 gallon pot and stirrer, he was a happy camper when he got it. Dave I hope you are in a happy place.?

He loved to cook up some big meals - ham and beans, etc. He was proud of his pots!

Thanks, Al, for the notice. I've puffed with Dave and sometimes when he could coordinate it on his plane trips to Kansas City (flying from PHL) he would come to Morley's Pipe Club. We'd traded tobaccos over the years and he actually sent me a nice pipe, thinking I didn't have enough. I had always thought I should plan to visit while ffishing upstate, given that he didn't drive. Another unfulfilled plan.

Sounds like a gentle soul. RIP.
Well, probably not. Dave could cut a wide swath and didn't suffer fools. I think he was actually booted from this forum, perhaps it was one of the other ones. He went to the KC shows and got along well with George D....
We were as polar opposite on life views as you could be, but somehow set that all aside.

He was a handful, had issues with his disability check, you know how govt works, helped him out a bit, he was not a piker, he gave as good as he got, very generous soul, reminded me of an old driller I worked for in the oil fields.
