So I bought my first meer on fleabay the other day. I got it real cheap, because it's broken. The stem was snapped off, and, according to the seller, was glued back on. I still like it, because it's Bacchus, but that's another story. In the seller's description, he says that "I think since it was repairable it should have been done with meerschaum slip, and re-finished". Would that make the crack in the stem invisible? I'm not going to put any more money into this pipe (I'll probably find some other use for the bowl, maybe in some sort of wine display), but how exactly do they repair this stuff?

What exactly needs repair on the pipe? The stem or the shank? If it is the stem then you can buy another one but if it is the shank that is harder to deal with.
