Hi all
I was removing the stem from my meer. It is a relatively cheep one with a plastic tenon that slides into the stem but is threaded on the Mortise end and I basically have striped the thread in the mortise that holds the tenon in place. Any ideas how I can fix it?

Ouch. I have done small repairs with clay before. I picked some up at a craft store. Not sure if it will work in that area though. Best of luck!

Sorry to hear it! I have an old meer with a similar problem. I melted some beeswax on the tenon and place it on before it hardened. It's been holding very well.
I will eventually send it out or try buying a replacement delrin tenon (my stem is genuine amber), but for now, it's a quick easy solution.

Thanks for that guys

I just saw on you tube a guy who used a high heat epoxy to fix his shank would you guys recommend this

Would it be safe smoke still

The epoxy is fine if you keep it out of the draft channel- epoxy or CA is used in every pipe that has a ferrule,stem inlay or bamboo extension. Two problems- you screw it up and get a gob of epoxy in the airway, it will be painful to fix unless you have correct tools and skills- you might destroy the pipe. If you don't get it set in the correct position within five minutes, you destroy the pipe. If it's a decent pipe, go for the correct fix and have the tenon replaced.
