My final pipe purchase for 2013 was from the half-price pipe sale held over
at Iwan Ries site. This was a BC Rocaille 1601 straight blast billiard, which
had an MSRP of $115, and was regularly discounted to $92, and was on sale
at an additional discount for half of the MSRP. So I bought the pipe for
$57 plus shipping, about what I'd pay for a good basket pipe at most shops.
It's a Group 4, about 1.40 oz weight. Nice pipe to break in in the new year.
I was impressed by the finish and feel, and especially the handsome, even
sandblast finish in a dark brown.
For those Forums members who shop at the high level, there are still a number
of pipes, many of them in the original $300 to $700 price range still on sale at
half price. To get to the half-price pipes, click on the upper edge of the home
page or pipe page (it says "half price sale").
