Previously had sent a couple of pipes to him for stem replacements of which I'm quite happy. So, recently sent in a Peterson 20s and 9s for reaming and cleaning. Had the pipes-bought used-for many years. Don't recall what the chambers looked like when I got them but they'd become somewhat too shallow for me. Thought I knew how to ream a pipe. Guess not as I got them back and he'd restored them to original chamber size and cleaned them up so well they look new. So happy with the turn of events I'll actually start using them often again which I had stopped doing.

Rich at Briarville has, at one point or another, touched every single one of my meers. The only problem was the very first one I sent which had a clogged stem. The stem broke when he tried to straighten it to drill it out - so he made and sent two replacement stems - one was so like the original that I wouldn't have noticed and the other was in a different color that I liked even better!

I know you can’t post photos but I would’ve loved to see the work he did on that 20s.

I use Rich for my pipes, but it is important ti remember that you must be specific about what you want. 90% of the time everything is fine. But, I have gotten two stems back where I needed to return them, not because of functionality but because of a “look” that I wasn’t comfortable with. In all cases he happily accommodated my wishes.

Had him replace 2 stems and I chose wisely.:) He also reamed and cleaned 1 of them, a huge, old Ben Wade freehand which made it look nearly new. Between that and its new stem it has become 1 of my favorite pipes. The new stem looks much better with it than the original which didn't fit it well.
