I've wanted to try C&D Briar Fox for awhile now. 2 month old tin, dense square crumble kake and mild Virginia tin note. The Virginias remind me of Dunhills Elizabetean Mixture. Malty and the burley gives the smoke a nice body. I can see why this is a best seller for C&D. I don't get the cigar or cigarette note that others have noted. This may be because of my understanding and experience with the profile of burley and Virginias. I haven't smoked this in a briar yet, choosing a Morgan cob. This is the ideal fishing blend for me. Straight forward with no punches, except for the Vitimin N punch.

I've been on a plug an cake binge this past month.. I just love the little squares and prepping them. In fact I purchased every possible tobacco of this form on pipesandcigars. Except this one. The reviews scared me in regards to the cigarette taste.

I really enjoy Briar Fox, I love the simple honest tobacco flavor. I use Briar Fox to break in all my pipes new and estate, it gives me a good assessment of how well a pipe smokes. I have several pounds cellared and heartily recommend it to anyone who likes the taste of burley and Virginia.

Briar Fox tried as a sample when I bought something else seemed to lack verve to me. I can enjoy a mild tobacco, but it just didn't have much personality.

TRIED TO ADD A FECES ICON, anyway. Briar Fox is a great malty Virginia that turned citrusy at the heel of the bowl.

Would you say the room note is strong like cigars or cigarettes? I have been eyeing briar fox for a couple weeks now but as others have said the reviews have held me off a bit. I hang out with some ex cigarette smokers and I would hate to trigger the addiction to cigarettes again with this tobacco.

I was getting.typical sweet Virginia, eriksmokes85. The cigar/cigarette comparison is subjective.

My lady who is not a smoker likes the room note of Briar Fox - she said it has a sweet hay smell and reminds her nothing of cigarettes

My first adventure with Briar Fox was so so . So I loaded it up in a big ol plastic jar . My friend Allan dropped by one day and he said whats in the jar as he helped himself . He raved and raved ,this good stuff . I gladly got him a zip lock and said help yourself . A few days later i tried the blend again and low and behold it had improved in the jar over just looking cool . With a little shelf time the blend matures in a wonderful all day smoke .

Briar Fox is becoming one of my favorites. Trips me out, how close it is to Elizabethean Mixture minus perique. In fact it's better than EM, having more complexities than EM.

I admittedly am a huge fan of Briar Fox. I bought the tin because I have such fond memories of brair rabbit stories that my grandfather would tell me as a child. I have a small collection of brair rabbit story books, and I thought it would be nice to have the tin more than anything sitting on my bookshelf with them.
That was a few years ago now, and I find myself reordering a "back up" tin every 3-4 months of this fine leaf now. I keep telling myself I am going to cellar a few tins but so far I have not done it. I check ebay for it in aged tins every now and then, but I have not had any luck finding one yet.
This tobacco, in my thoughts, in one of the most versatile tobaccos on the market. I smoke it on its own, blend it with other things, and add LorAnne flavorings to it on a regular basis. I very rarely have a bad experence with it. I give it to new pipe smokers as an example of what quality tobacco's are like compaired to OTC blends.
This is my "if you are stuck on an island and only have 1 tobacco to smoke for the rest of your life" choice.
My only negative thing to say about it is this, the Vitamin N kick it has keeps it from being something I smoke in the evenings. I have found that when I smoke this around 7pm, I can't sleep that night. That may just be me though.

Nope, not just you. I'm not referring to Briar Fox specifically, but when I smoke something nic heavy, late, I have trouble dozing off. Odd since I was a heavy cig smoker, and will still indulge here and there. Guess it all depends on how you are absorbing.
Back on topic, this is one I have wanted to try as well. Think I might pick up a bit and give it a go.

I have 2 unopened tins date 011614 hidden in the back of my desk drawer. Every now and then they work their way to the front and I have to lovingly move them back. I'm trying to save them until I decide to retire from working. Nah! I'm just letting them get some more age...

I didn't like BF when I tried it young but fell madly in love with it when I tried some with five years of age on it. I have over 7 lbs of it put away with about 2.5 yrs of age on it. I am hopeful it will soon be as good as the aged stuff I tried previously.
