I just realized I've breaked in all of my pipes pretty unproperly. I smoked them full from start, since I didn't thought it would matter, since I mostly smoke it all the way down anyways. So my question is; Do I need to break it in again or is it ok if I just have that char layer?

I thought this was going to be a whole different topic based on the title :D

You will be fine. Just smoke slowly. I see no difference in the pipes I've broken in with partial bowls compared to full ones.

Unless you have reamed the bowl down to bare wood/briar there really isn't a reason to "break it in", a slight layer is just fine. Many smokers don't build cake on their pipes, I usually wipe out the bowl with a rag and a nylon brush after smoking leaving a fine char

You should be fine as is. Only if the cake build up is excessive or quite uneven. Then I'd take it down to less than a dime's width. (I keep mine well under that, by rinsing and wiping with paper towel. What cake is there is very hard, and thin.

Try a bit of numbing gel and bite a pillow, eventually it should be enjoyable

Ok ok ok, ha ha, I have to admit, I laughed a little at the title of this post.
Storfiskarn52, there is a bit of a double entendre with your title, that has another... um... "kinky" meaning in English. I hope that you don't the cras replies deter you from joining us on this forum. I especially look forward to hearing more about pipe smoking from where ever you are from. And, once again, the way you broke your pipe in is quite ok, and again welcome to the forum.

I usually just pack and light, and just take it slow, putting down the pipe if it gets too warm. I don't adhere to the smoking in little chunks to build it up. I loved natural pipes and so far I haven't had a problem.

Dear storfiskarn52,
The question is whether you have /broken/ in your pipes properly since this is something in the past tense. There is nothing wrong with doing so full bowl, I have done it that way many times and you are fine! If it is an unusually tall bowl, sometimes I will break in just the bottom first as when filled all the way up, often that part of the bowl is not smoked as by then, that bottom tobacco becomes issued from absorbing the tars from above.

English may not be first language here....
Andy, that was stellar. Standing ovation.
I don't do cake in a pipe. If you want cake, there is some great advice here. I've just never taken them up on it. I wipe it out before I pack it in.
