I was on break today, and was sitting under the tree and decided to take a picture before I lit my pipe and read my book.

Nice scene! A very emotional and candid book by one of my favorite authors as well.

Bull Dont feel bad about the outside smoking, for 31.5 years I had to smoke outside while working at Exxon it's called the smoking bench. The plant was in a very bad neighborhood, my unit ran close to a busy Hwy. In the 1920s when the plant was started the employees built around it. As the years went by the workers moved to suburbs and neighborhood suffered severe blight. Shootings, dope dealings, you name it right alongside the fence by the busy Hwy. the smoking bench was alongside a massive control center, covered but mighty breezy in winter. One afternoon I was puffing with my former Marine buddy who had seen combat too, the loud bang and shells kicking up at our feet made he and I dive for cover, yelling to the guys who never were in combat to get down. Scratched a nice pipe doing that. Seems as though a drug deal gone bad outside the fence brought the weapons out and shots were fired , we just suffered a wayward bullet. So if your tree is peaceful you had it better than me, good to hear you're hanging in there.

A most excellent book, Lewis is one of my favorite authors as well. Have you read the Screwtape Letters? One of my all time favorites. I fire up Three Nuns in his honor ever so often.

Lichen? :)
@BnB ... you mean the "Toast"? That was a fantastic diatribe.
He really let the educational system and our material consumerism have it! :D

@cobguy That too! But, for me, just the last chapter of the book itself. I loved how Screwtape phrased everything, his defeat was really the greatest possible victory for the "enemy", it was beautifully described.

tuold [I hope you were smoking "Three Nuns" in honor of the author!]

I was all out of 3 nuns, but I wish I did it's a tobacco I have yet to try and have been wanting to try it for some time now.

screwtape letters is next on my order and read list
phonomet [Another Lewis fan here...also a fan of lunch breaks, pipes, matches, trees, grass, acorns, pipe cases, photographs, twigs...did I miss anything?]

I think you got it all covered
tuold If you like CS Lewis you make also like Dinesh D'Souza. I enjoyed God Forsaken It was obvious that Lewis has a lot great influence on D'Souza.

I will have to check that author out
