I'm finding that I am very sensitive to tongue bite. This is frustrating because I've tried various blends that, while delicious to me, can be uncomfortable to smoke. While I do better with Burleys and FMOTT (the only English I've smoked) I do love the taste of both lightly cased Virginias and vanilla aros. Both MacBaren and McClelland blends usually bite. I realize I could be more careful by smoking more slowly and drying out my tobacco. But I've also noticed that not all brands & blends bite as much as others.
For those prone to tongue bite, have you found brands or blends that are, generally, easier on the tongue?

A little ironic, my suggestion for avoiding tongue bite by brand would be MacBaren lol. I've never had a MacB blend bite at all. Peterson blends tend to be on the softer side, and most their aros are some mixture of Virginia, Burley, and Cavendish.

Most Mac Baren's I've had have the possibility to bite, but only if you push them. That said, Mac Baren's HH Matured Virginia was a piranha that had be starved for weeks when I smoked it. Wow. It bite with every puff no matter how lightly I sipped. Anyway, I've found that I get bit most when I push a Virginia-based blend. It's a nasty little reminder to slow down.

Have you tried any of Boswell's tobaccos? I've never experienced any tongue bite with any of them and they have quite a few blends in their catalogue. In English some of my favorites are Magnum Blend, Northwoods, and Mild English. In Burley, they have Boswell's Premium Burley, which is mildly aromatic. In aromatics, they have a wide selection. I'm especially fond of Pennsylvania Dutch Treat, No Bite Delite, Raspberries and Cream, Christmas Cookie, and Chocolate Cream.
H&H tobaccos from Pipes and Cigars have also never given me any tongue bite. They are blended by Russ Ouellette, one of the premiere blenders in this country. They have a wide variety of bulk and tinned blends.
If you like heavier Balkan blends, Peter Stokkebye's Balkan Supreme has never given me any tongue bite and is a favorite of mine. It's also very economical, Mars Cigars has it by the pound for less than $30.
