I much prefer the look of non-boxed pressed sticks.
But my favourite non-Cubans are the Padron Annivesary series (both natural and Maduro) and they are boxed pressed.
Took me a while to get used to the look
But hey, c’est la vie

I remember seeing a Rocky P factory tour video explaining that he takes the time/ effort to do it because he believes it concentrates the flavor more if I remember right. I prefer reg.

Good question. I don’t have an answer. I can say the COA Brazilia BP didn’t strike me as being different than non-BP.

I would like to here an industry professional’s take though.

I don't go out of my way to get them, but my favorites are the same Oz likes - Padron Anniversary - and they are box pressed. It is nice that they don't roll.

Those are exactly the ones that just ticked me off and prompted my post. I wanted to try them but didn't order. It's the way they handle and feel in the mouth that flummoxes me. What's the word I want? Oh yeah, stupid. They don't fit my pie hole. It's like sucking on a square straw, except bigger. Hardly a concern for anyone else, but curiosity made me wonder if I was missing something provided by the shape. Apparently not--or at least nothing I care about. They don't roll? :ROFLMAO:

We sure love complaining about options. Look at the least it's novel. Not what you see often. And man cigars seem like a hard market for a product to stand out. If people think chamber shape makes a difference then people will think box pressed does too. And maybe someday on a forum like this people will be like why do they make those round cigars?
And end with a joke.... Gay Panic maybe?

I just think they wanted to save money and use smaller boxes. They sure weren't rolled square! I'm not saying there aren't any, but I've not seen a box pressed Cuban, or cello wrapped for that matter.

Can't they just use round boxes?
The square bottle of Jack Daniels was supposedly to protect it during shipping, and more bottles per wagon.

Let’s say it’s 1888, and you have a cigar factory. There’s no cellophane to wrap the product. There’s likely no cardboard, just cedar boxes.

If the rollers press the product into rectangular boxes there’s more pounds per wagon load to the railroad or the docks.

If you use circles for boxes and/or cigars there’s more shipping loss, because they roll around.
