I recently bought (eBay) a nice medium size bulldog: "Bowler made in London England" + "S.S.Pierce Co." "4". I can find lots of info re S.S. Pierce Company in Boston. I can't find anything about WHO might have made this pipe, the age, sizes/shapes, etc. Any info would be appreciated.

If I'm not mistaken, that's a Comoy's private label. Once cleaned up, that should be one sharp little pipe!

How did you get that photo? I did an eBay search on "Bowler made in London England" and came up with a list of bowler hats, and this one pipe.

THAT's the pipe, Cap'n! I saw the integrity in the posted photo and I'm a sucker for the basic bulldog. Gonna be a fine smoker after the clean up. It hasn't been smoked a great deal - next to no chatter on the bit. Looks like it sat on a shelf for many years waiting for me to rescue it.

The SPC pipe lacks the "Bowler" reference (no pix, but their COM listing is pretty detailed).

By that, I don't think Bowler is part of the COM, but a shape name.

Is there a COM picure?
