Well, after 3+ years of retirement I'm taking my bride on a 7 day cruise to Bermuda tomorrow (her idea). Booked a suite for the trip. Norwegian Cruise Lines called us Thursday and offered us an upgrade to a Penthouse Suite for $300. Done deal.

So, I won't be online until next Sunday at the earliest. Internet on board is $0.40/minute and the cost of using my cell phone for internet is just ridiculous, like $20 a gigabyte.

Behave yourselves in my absence and stay true to the pipemen's code. I'm sure there'll be some tales to tell when I get back.

Been scopingg out bars there. Between the ship and island I hate to think what my liquor bill will be for the week.

Packing clothes was the easy part; picking which pipes and tobaccoos to bring is a bit dicier.

There is supposed to be a smoking lounge but we do have a private verando off our room. I figure for this kind of money I'll smoke there as well. I am packing an ash tray.

A word of caution though; be mindful of that "convenience card" they give you. My brother and I racked up an $800 bar tab in 5 nights of drinking Red Stripes.

Oh yes, the convenience cards are the most potent weapons of Liners and resorts. Must go on a "shopping trip" when we get off the ship there. They frown on bringing booze on when you depart NY so I need to behave, somewhat, until we reach Bermuda.

Schmoking is usually allowed on the top deck on one side. port or starbord, each cruise line varies.

So far packed 6 pipes,2 wind caps, 4 blends, 6 Opus X and 15 Camachos. That should at least get me there.

I was 60 miles offshore tuna fishing last year, and made the mistake of answering an incoming call.

It was like $7 for a 1 minute conversation.

Will do, romeo. My wife is the family photog but I'll be on the lookout or tobacco stores. On my last trip, in 1977, I did pick up a Dr. Plumb full bent so I know there's something more to be had than a t-shirt.
