The International Bluegrass Music Awards have moved as of last year from Nashville -- where they felt in

shadow and like a sideshow -- to Raleigh, N.C., where they have staked a claim for the next five years,

I think it is. It's a great event with business and professional sessions. Not being a musician, I just attended

the two large public concerts wrapping up the event, and took along one of Old Dominion's small cobs for

an intermission smoke outside the venue. People paid little attention. No hassle. A few curious glances.

One packing of Carter Hall, and one light using the amphitheater fence as a windbreak did it, and the smoke

lasted at least fifteen or twenty minutes, longer than I expected with the small pipe.
