Home and Hearth Slow-Aged First Snow.

Now, I know this may sound odd, but this blend gives me an earthy "hay-like" aroma that I just really seem to enjoy. It's a nice change from aromatics, which I usually smoke. What else is out there that has given you the same "experience"? Now, I know we all have different palates, but maybe a pattern of similarity will emerge. Here's the profile as listed on Pipes and Cigars:

If I tasted grass or hey in my straight Virginia's, they never made it to my cellar.
I suggest you try a tin of Capstan Blue Flake and Gold Flake. I prefer the Blue as the Golds has more citrus than I care for but it is still a good blend as I do have some Gold Readdy Rubbed.

Next get yourself a Virginia.Perique Blend such as Peterson Navy Rolls or Solani 633(can be a bitch to find). Peterson Irish flake is a strong Virginia/ Burley blend. Mac Baren Old Dark Fired is a nice Virgi ia/Kentucky blend. All of the above are easy to get except the Solani. You might also want to try Peterson Flake which is the old Dunhill Verison like the Navy Rolls were also a dunhill blend.

Read and read and read about how to prepare and smoke flake tobacco. Just because someone is new it doesn't mean you have to begin smoking dog shit bulks. Flakes are some of the most popular and tasty blends on the market.

I recommended G.L. Pease Sixpence in the other thread because the components are very similar, and it's hard to say exactly what you want more of.

You can use the Pipe Tobacco Search on the Smokingpipes website. Filter by blend components.
Include Virginia, Burley, Dark Fired Kentucky.
Exclude everything else.

You should be presented with a list of several similar blends.

You could also do a search and only exclude latakia and deer tongue and come up with an even larger list of blend in the same vein with even more new and interesting flavors.

Thank you so much for this! I have found several blends that should be similar, but still unique. HH Burley Flake seems promising.

"A simple classic, Mac Baren's HH Burley Flake uses ripe Virginias and a touch of Dark-Fired Kentucky to complement its Burley base, making for a pleasant, mellow, woodsy taste."

War Horse Bar and WH Green also seem similar, but I wonder how much stronger they are. The descriptions seem to present these as blends for "experienced" smokers.

I've never smoked either, but I did write a review of them.
