Hi yall, like the title says I'm trying to find a pound or two of vanilla roll cake after tobaccogeddon. Until I do i thought I'd ask for yalls recommendation for a blend that comes close. I've got some George's dragon in the mail but I don't have high hopes. Thanks yall!

I'd recommend trying John Cottons double pressed creme, but i will be damned if it didn't get the axe as well.

Mac B Vanilla roll cake is going to be tough to come by, I only have 2 tins cellared myself

Sticking with blends that are still in production, the current incarnation of Three Nuns is actually pretty close. The top note is honey instead of vanilla, but it's the same sort of coin cut Virginia and Dark Fired Kentucky blend with that distinctive slightly sweet Mac Baren casing. If you like Vanilla Roll Cake then I think you'd enjoy Three Nuns very much, and mixing in a pinch of Mac Baren Vanilla Cream Loose Cut with a couple rubbed out coins of Three Nuns will get you pretty darn close to Vanilla Roll Cake, but you may find that you like Three Nuns just fine on it's own. puffy

MB made Vanilla Cream before the Roll Cake, which is derived from it. You can't go wrong with Vanilla Cream, especially considering it will be available on the US market.

I've never found anything that matches or rivals Vanilla Roll Cake. I love it and only have another 2 tins left. I think the Vanilla Cream Loose Cut is very good, and close, but still different. I will try the Three Nuns and possibly with a pinch of the Vanilla Cream mixed in.

I will also be interested to see if there's anything anyone has that is close to replacing it. For me, the best smoke I've ever had was Vanilla Roll Cake. It was just an amazing smoke that I'm trying to replicate every time I load it up in a pipe.

As much as I don't like mixing blends, I went ahead an tried something out as a fellow Mac Baren vanilla enjoyer when I want vanilla and have all 3 formats cellared.

50/50 mix of Vanilla loose and HU Indaba. Indaba is a VA/dark fired blend with a mild sweet topping (caramel?). The dark fired is also pretty mild and my thought was if blended with Vanilla loose, it would tone down the vanilla a little bit without loosing the sweetness since it does have a topping and the mild dark fired in the blend would add some of that spice and earth that the vanilla roll cake has that loose/flake does not.

I'm smoking a bowl of it right now and I think it's worth trying if you really miss Vanilla roll cake.

Caveat - I like both blends on their own and am currently smoking through a tin of HU Indaba so putting this test together was as convenient for me as just doing it. YMMV, but I think it's worth consideration.

What a good idea, thank you!

Is the VC sweeter/ does it have more topping? I think that would turn me off of it.
