It's about 8 months since I started smoking a pipe and I'm now thoroughly enjoying the experience. I started with some aromatics but have moved on to more traditional tobaccos recently. Royal Yacht is definitely my favourite, but it doesn't have a particularly nice room note - according to my wife anyway. I'm wondering if I should try mixing with a vanilla tobacco. I don't want to ruin the RY, but a nice aroma would be a bonus. Any advice gratefully received.

Personally? No way.
There's only one way for you to know, though ... try it! :puffy:

Start smoking dark Kentucky, Tambolaka, Cigar leaf and heavy Latakia blends inbetween bowls of Royal Yacht. Just like how "hot" is a relative term, so is "smells bad". You just need to turn up the heat to help adapt to the new climate.

(This is a sarcastic post, terrible advice, and by reading it you agree that I shall be held blameless regarding any repercussions from smoking these blends.)

I wouldn't "ruin" any blend by mixing it with an aromatic.

Better, IMO, to scent the air by smoking a little bit of aromatic first,

then switch over to your unflavored stuff.
Maybe you can keep a corncob filled with a nice smelling aromatic in reserve.

Light it up first, then a few puffs later you can put it down and switch over

to your R.Y.
