These are three of my current favorites, and it just dawned on me their similar features (black blast, smooth rim, white ring).
From left to right, a sitting dublin by West Virginia carver Abe Herbaugh, a bent scoop by Wayne Teipen, and a slightly bent egg by Charles Cole. All smoke fantastically and their fit and finish are first rate.

I like that Herbaugh -- very organic relationship between bowl shape and blast. He makes a mean bulldog, too.

Great bulldog, Pitchfork! It has all the classic element but it's definitely a modern take.

Love those sandblasts - gorgeous looking pipes (nice bulldog too). Thanks for sharing.

Here are some more shots of the individual pipes.
Charles Cole. This is practically a perfect pipe for me. Large capacity (roughly a group 6), a great blast, and a comfortable stem.

Abe Herbaugh. I met Abe at the Columbus show last summer and his work is just so impressive for such a new carver. This is another guy whose work is going to get very expensive very soon.

Wayne Teipen. Wayne is has the eye of an artist and the brain of an engineer, which is exactly what you want in a pipe maker.

Wow, all three are gorgeous. I love the combination of black with the white contrasting ring. I just bookmarked Abe's site, and will keep an eye on him for sure. I already have the other two on my list.

Congratulations on all your new pipes. Thanks for the heads up about Abe being a new carver.

Those are fantastic pipes! I got to see Wayne's pipe in production; that is one sweet pipe! I know Abe pretty well also, can't go wrong there. I like Charles' work, but haven't met him yet! You have a nice trio there BV!

Nate, Charles is usually at the Chicago show. If you'd like I can introduce you, but he's the kind of guy whom you can just walk up to and talk pipes; he's a very friendly guy.

Sure thing! I'd love to meet him.
